American Space Launches to Resume

It’s been nearly a decade since the last rocket blasted Americans into space from their home soil, but that long drought may finally be over. NASA and SpaceX announcing they will resume the tradition on May 27.

This is the final test for SpaceX’s Crew Dragon Spacecraft before it begins carrying astronauts to the International Space Station on a regular basis.

The new era of human spaceflight beings next month as astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken blast off atop a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Carmen Roberts Fox News

Climate Change Buzzkill

Scientists say climate change is driving bumblebees towards extinction. Fox’s Carmen Roberts reports.

A study shows hot temperatures linked to climate change are killing off  bumble-bees across North America and Europe.  Researchers from Canada’s University of Ottawa say you’re about half as likely to see bumblebees  today in the places they’ve lived in North America. That’s a disturbing trend to ecologists who say bumblebees are crucial pollinators doing work honeybees cannot. Scientists say you can help save Bumblebees by planting native shrubs and flowers and by leaving fallen logs and foliage to protect the bees from excessive heat. Carmen Roberts  Fox News

The study is published this week in the journal, Science.

Smiley Face in Space

(Nov.6) The Hubble Space Telescope spots a friendly formation in space. Fox’s Carmen Roberts explains.

You might call it an emoji in space. NASA unveils a photo taken by the Hubble Space Telescope that clearly looks like a smiley face. The giant telescope was hunting for newborn stars when it took a captured a cluster of galaxies. One of them swish-shaped like a mouth, directly under two yellow-blobs for eyes. NASA explained the sweeping arc of light that forms the mouth is galaxy light that passed near a massive object en route to earth causing it to distort and stretch out of shape. You can see the smiley face in space on NASA’s website and social media. Carmen Roberts. Fox News.
